You can meet up at the Metro Brasserie and Bar on West Victoria Dock Road in the city centre. This venue is open all day and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks with stunning views across the city quay and the chance to relax and chat. This is a spot where you can meet later than scheduled if that work appointment comes up.
Take time to decide about food. The menu offers a global choice of dishes from the Pacific Rim, Latin America and Europe. Perhaps you just want to enjoy a drink or two and take a walk to Dundee’s West End. This is Dundee’s culture quarter where you can enjoy jazz and theatre as well as food and drink.
This area stretches around from the edge of the city centre, past the university and along the road to Perth. There are bars and restaurants for every taste, whether you are a student living on the bank of mum and dad, a professional, or a single mum or dad having a precious evening out.
For arty singles Dundee has lots to offer. If either of you have artistic interests, meet up in the Jute Bar on Nethergate. There is a large outside sitting area in the summer, cinemas next door and exhibitions upstairs. There’s plenty to talk about to break the ice with your date.
If you want a casual meeting place, go to the Medina Bar and Grill on the Perth Road. This used to be called Bar Rio. The clientele is a mixture of students, stylish punters and businesspeople and the coffee is good too. If you want to meet up for a coffee and cake during the week whilst on a day off, or an evening meal on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays when you might have more time, try Chamber’s Coffee House and Restaurant on South Tay Street.
For those Dundee singles who can afford to impress a date and take in a show at the theatre, try the Byzantium Restaurant in the West End. It’s cool, stylish and modern, offering a pre-theatre menu and a Sunday roast.
During a weekend, meet up with your date at Fat Sam’s on South Ward Road in the city centre. This is the biggest nightclub in Scotland and hosts big name bands and DJs. Friday is student’s night so the club will be crowded, but Saturdays and Wednesdays would be fine.
Get to know each other by taking a leisurely walk along the road from the Sensation towards Magdalen Green. Walk towards the Tay Bridge and along the riverside. Maybe you’ll talk about the future when you no longer will be singles in Dundee!
