The luckiest girl alivemog271, 06-Feb-2006 It was the beginning of September 2003, when I logged onto datingagency.com for the last time ever. My three month membership was due to finish and I had decided to remove my profile after encountering men from a variety of walks over the Internet. There was Steve I exchanged emails with who disappeared off to New Zealand, Andy the crazy car valet man from Leeds, Mr Shower and his sexy innuendos regarding to soap! Need I say more? However, on that last day I had a very short message from someone called Si who simply left his mobile number, said he had dark hair and liked the gym. Some might have thought that was intriguing, but I reaction was, ‘The cheek!’ This was exactly what I told him when curiosity got the better of me and I text back. It turned out he didn’t have regular access to the internet so began our relationship via text. It was bizarre as he had seen my photograph on the site, but I had no idea what he looked like. I knew I wanted to meet this man at the other end of the phone. He eventually emailed me a picture by his sister’s computer. A good-looking lad I thought, but I didn’t rush out and have my haircut!
So on September 10th, we met in Deansgate outside Moon Under Water. There Si stood in designer gear and I rolled up not in a limo but on my mountain bike. Yes, I was gasping for breath, faced flushed, hair all over the place and wearing bike clips. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek before thrusting my cycle clips at him and saying, ‘Hold these for me’. Later he confessed he had been smitten from that most unromantic of starts!
We began a series of dates with me playing it cool due to being bitten in the past and now twice shy. I was double-scared as his honesty combined with enthusiasm made me begin to like him more. The shock for us both came when he was telling me about his 21st Birthday and asked me about mine. I couldn’t remember as it had been 5 years before his! He was my Toy Boy and I was the Older Woman!
At first despite his good looks, I wasn’t physically attracted to him and it was only as I got to really know him that I noticed his cute sloping smile, dimpled chin and his steely eyes that softened when he looked at me. We didn’t even kiss for the first five dates although I was very forward and let him hold my hand! The kiss happened on top of a hill in Lyme Park after I had had the joy of watching his butt and legs, which are very firm and muscular, cycle there!
Love blossomed and 5 months later we were engaged. Si proposed to me completely out of the blue using a football analogy and dancing to Darius in my bedroom! The ring was a perfect fit and I was dumbfounded for a whole two minutes which is amazing! We hadn't known each other long, but it felt right. Since that day we have had many ups and downs as couples do, friends, health, family, rows, but the love and laughter have shone through. On September 10th 2005, it was exactly 2 years to the day that we had our first fateful encounter. I am very proud to say on that date I became Mrs Morag Lilian Platt by marrying Mr Simon Denis Platt at the Lancaster Registry Office. It was the perfect day and it was all because I clicked ‘Log On’.
Thank you for making me the luckiest girl alive.
Best Wishes
