After talking to various people on the website and searching through hundreds of profiles I went on a couple of dates but nothing came of it – there was no spark.

So on sunday evening in November 2011, I went on the site to cancel my account. I was fed up of looking and felt like I’d never meet my Mr Right. But as I was on there I saw Nigel. We began chatting online and stayed chatting to each other for the whole evening.

On the 23rd of December, Nigel proposed to me on one knee with a gorgeous sparkly ring! He knocked me for six – I wasnt expecing it at all and took a while to catch my breath before I could say yes. Even now I still can’t quite believe it’s all happened so quickly but it’s all so right!

We are getting married this christmas in a castle and I totally feel like a true princess! We’ve also since suffered a miscarriage which was hard but our love has made us stronger. I joined having been disappointed with another site. Straight away it felt a much more friendly community, and I had some lovely messages! I went on several dates, and have made a few friends along the way.

At 46, you probably don’t feel much like ‘putting yourself out there’ literally, so for me going online was a practical and proactive, as well as a very fun alternative.

I started chatting to John two months into my three month membership and liked his straightforward and open personality. We exchanged numbers on the first evening of chatting, and met 5 days later. We arranged an early evening drink in a busy pub, which turned into a meal and us being the last to leave. I suppose you could say something just gelled because we then spent another hour chatting (and kissing) in the carpark.
