Drunk on a first date

What would you do?

I've heard of people who meet "just for a coffee" which is fine for an ice breaker if you live close by, but I would think that the further you have traveled the longer you will want the date to last.

So you meet in a pub, your date has a drink, then another..and another...

Your date gets rat-arsed.

What do you do? Decide that there's no way that you are going to see that drunk again? Tell him/her of your disappointment the next day but be prepared to see how things go the next time?

On an ancient thread I've admitted to my date and I getting rat-arsed on a first (and last!) date, and making a spectacle of ourselves, but wondered what people's reaction to this sort of thing might be.

Coming soon...what do you do if your date's mother comes along to the first date?

God there's nothing worse than being out with someone who's slaughtered! Well, not when you should be trying to make an appropriate impression on each other ...

I guess I'm always the designated driver though as I don't like getting caned anyway and that gives me an excuse (if I needed one) for not getting shitfaced!

Keith you make me laugh :-)

Shar - I like you tend to drive and meet on neutral ground so no change of experiences like Keith.

I wait patiently for the next thread :-)

You would make no allowance for him being nervous, for example, Tracey?

Drunk on a first date? Vomit copiously over each other is probably the answer to that one. Respect!

Tracey, it would depend on how well I thought I knew her.
I must admit, it wouldn't be a very encouraging start!

But before I meet someone, I usually, if not always, have a "feel" for what sort of person they are...in my scenario they don't turn up drunk, but gradually get that that way during the course of a long meeting.

I must admit I'm surprised at the lack of compassion in the few serious replies.

i understand what your saying keith , but no one knows anyone on here untill you actualy meet in person , and we are talkin about the very first date , you cant have compassion for a drunk on first date you would be a fool thats my view anyway .nerves is not a reason to get hammered
