Aiming high

I've just bid a fond farewell to my Canadian ex who I met through DA.

She didn't come to the UK this time just to visit me, but as she said, she couldn't come to the UK without seeing me.

Now I've got to thinking...there's been downright maudlin
threads, and more intelligent threads questioning the purpose of being on dating sites, whether distances are an issue, are people honest in their profiles, should you hold out for Mr/Ms Perfect...questions questions, questions.

Well. Once you've met someone, it doesn't matter how that meeting came about. What comes next would happen anyway.

But. There are some people that you wouldn't have considered approaching in the first place.

People have told me, in particular my dear departed Mum, that I shouldn't put my self down, that I'm as good as anyone else...but it's true that I've met women through dating agencies that I would never have considered approaching...even through the anonymity that dating agencies afford.

I met my Canadian ex by being bored and pissed one night, I read her profile and sent her a message saying her description of her ideal man read like an advert for a high powered job...we got chatting....

I've met a woman who I'd noticed for a long time, but thought would never be interested in me..until she messaged me!

Things don't always work out...obviously, or I wouldn't have the time or inclination to be writing this...but in all the pros and cons that might be considered about dating agencies, consider this...aim high!

The song is a mild moan about women wanting to be my fiend, as opposed to my lover. Until I googled the lyrics I hadn't realised how well they fit my situation!

It was to your initial posting really Keith ie that it doesn't matter how you meet someone in this day and age, it's what you both make of the relationship, if anything after that. And yes a lot of women may want to be your friend rather than lover...and it took me a while to come to grips with that in all honesty as this is after all a dating site...but friends are friends for a reason, and without my friends, whether they be male or female, I wouldn't be the person I am today and wouldn't be without them.

Didn't we do well! Maybe that's a Brucie bit from before your time.

My main point, though I now see that I camouflaged it, is that you can fish in a very big pond with dating agencies, instead of just your local backwater.

The moan about "friends" was secondary.

I find it hard to believe though that men would want your friendship and not want your body as well.
