This is weird - talking to you on two different threads!

Someone has dented your self confidence in the past by saying some cruel things about your looks. It is also clear that you haven't yet come to terms with your ex leaving. These are things you need to sort out in your own head before moving on.

But it's not just about finding a date. Yes, lots of women (and men) on here could find a 'date' or 'sh*g' with ease by going onto a chat room, if that's what they want, but finding the right person to build a relationship with can be more of a problem.

Hi Chris. No the Hop Farm meet was a no no. Due to there already being a function going on at the date that was arranged. People could not make the alternative date I suggested so it died a death.

Actually I am kidding when I go about being ugly. I am not good looking but neither am I a monster! When I am out and about I look at people and to tell you the truth most people are just ordinary and I fall in to that category. Not a monster but nothing special either. It's just something for me to moan about!

Chris you are spot on with what you say about a chat room. The person in question makes themselves available and that is why they can get a man so quick. Then it is used as a lever to keep them around! It works so I wonder if anyone here wants to try the same tactic? I think that most people here are not that shallow and want to do the building thing first.

Perhaps having a strong personality helps, which cmdr, you don't have. You come across as extremely self conscious which perhaps suggests an extreme lack of self confidence.

Perhaps going on an assertiveness course might help? There are so many around - I did a quick search but came up with too many to list here.
