most bizzarre interview question......What's the weirdest question you have been asked?
 | I am sitting here coughing and spluttering into my kleenex, dosed up to the nines with lemsip and trying desperately to prepare for an interview tomorrow.... and I am trying to think of all the likeliest questions that I will be asked in order to prepare as many responses as I can. I got to thinking.... what is the most unlikely thing I would be asked? Has anyone ever been to an interview and been completely gobsmacked by being asked something totally obscure or inappropriate? real answers please - what's the most bizzarre thing you have ever been asked at interview?
|
 | Never been asked anything bizarre, but then I've only ever had one real interview, but I hope you feel better soon :)
|
 | I was interviewed whilst applying for promotion in a previous employment.
I was once asked "who does the cooking in the household"
My reply..."we share the kitchen duties as at the time i worked mon/fri and my ex worked sat/sun"..."whoever was home first or had the time".
Now this was a very rich and well know man nationally who was the interviewer...his response..."well...I believe the kitchen is a womans domain"
I think the question was put to see what reaction i would take with his reponse.
I just replied.."well...that may be your preference but when you have both parents in a household working then i believe both need to share the household duties wether its cooking or cleaning".
There were other strange questions fired at me that had nothing whatsoever in relation to the job i was applying for.
"What does your father do for a living"
"What does your mother do"
"Are you a racist"

 | P.S...Hope you get better soon smiling and good luck in your interview. |
 | thanks Pure and Jonathan
Blimey - I hope my interviewers arent that mean! Glad you didnt rise to the bait - although asking what your father does for a living?????? what on Earth ........... (am making notes lol!)
|
 | Hi Smiling - poor you - hope you get better soon!
It wasn't so much the strangest 'question' I was asked at an interview, but rather that the whole interview was done in French apart from the welcome I received from the receptionist - I wondered why she was grinning at the time! Fortunately, I can speak the language but I did think they could have warned me beforehand! Still, I did say on my CV that I could speak fluent French so I guess they were just testing! It was pretty nerve-wrecking at the time but I got the job!
Good luck for tomorrow and don't worry, just be yourself and you'll be fine xx

 | awwww thanks Julie - but am being realistic - its out of my league - but "nothing ventured" and all that..........
Hee hee ouch in French!? - that's a lesson learnt - ooohhh how that could have backfired lol - there is always a temptation to 'build it up' a bit hahahah - I would have been stuck after singing the first verse of freres jacques lol!!! Thank goodness you were fluent - still a nasty trick of them to play though!
Also , just by way of apology - thanks for the good wishes BUT, I wasnt trying to milk the being ill bit - honestly hahaha - think I was just trying to justify to myslef more than anything why I was on here and not focused on the task at hand lol!

Hi smiling good luck tomorrow.
For what its worth a friends husband backhome applied at the Peniteniary, and he was very hot tempered and the interviewer sat and insulted him for 30 minutes and he exploded as he said "I hate your tie" and he never got the job. Reason was he would have really had the insults hurled his way by the prisoners.
I am sure you will do well and hopefully you will feel a bit better by then.
Take care byeeeee Pam |

MeltingHeart x |
 | didn't get it!!!!! BUT....... Didn't not get it!
Yep - I am confused too lol! Two of us are being called back later in October for an 'additional clarification' interview and then they will let us know........ curioser and curioser.......... |
 | That's probably good news 'Smiling' - usually means they want you both but one of you is more suited to a different job that maybe on offer! When you go back, keep that smile and have them 'wanting' you - it'll work a treat!
Good Luck!
