In short
We checked four introduction agencies serving Manchester on their own websites on 17 October 2026. Only one publishes a fee: £1,000 for six months of hybrid matching. The others quote prices at a consultation. Before signing, ask how members are vetted, how many introductions you get and what happens if nobody suits you. DatingAgency.com is not an agency.

Several national firms have a "Manchester" page; fewer have people or offices here. We list four that say on their own websites that they serve Manchester, what each publishes, and where they stay silent. Everything comes from each agency's own website as it read on 17 October 2026, and its own documents take precedence over our summary. No listing is paid for and none carries an affiliate link.
Who's working in Manchester right now
Select Personal Introductions
The most visibly local of the four. Select says its head office is in Spinningfields, with a registered address at 111 Piccadilly, and it lists phone lines for Manchester, Knutsford, Warrington, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and London. It offers two routes: a free "Open Directory" listing for people who are happy to be introduced to its paying members, with no promise that anyone will get in touch, and a Private Membership with a dedicated matchmaker. You can create a profile and book a 15-minute discovery call without paying.
INTRO NW
INTRO describes itself as a matchmaking and personal introduction agency for single professionals in Cheshire, Manchester and the wider North West. Its matchmakers meet clients face to face, and it can refer you to relationship coaches, image consultants and photographers. It names three membership levels (Elite, Prime and Personal) but the pages we could check didn't give prices for any of them.
Matchmakers Dating
A national agency with a North West page covering Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cumbria. Its published terms give a membership address in Alcester, Warwickshire, so treat it as a national firm with a regional service rather than a Manchester office. It says it specialises in people aged 30 to 49, offers a free initial consultation, and promises to respond to enquiries within 48 working hours.
Club Connexions
The northern arm of Club Introductions, a matchmaking group whose main service covers London and the Home Counties. Club Connexions says it helps singles "of all ages in the North of the UK", from their late 20s to their 80s. It is a hybrid service: the team writes your profile and sends you matches, and you choose whom to meet. It publishes no office address; contact is by email or phone.
The trade body, the Association of British Introduction Agencies (ABIA), keeps a list of members covering the North West. On 17 October 2026 it showed 13, mostly national or specialist services; Select was the only one in this guide. ABIA membership means an agency has agreed to follow its code of practice. It isn't a licence.
Prices side by side, with the date we checked
| Agency | Published price | What the price covers | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Club Connexions | £1,000 for six months; a "guest" membership at £150 for four months | Two or three matches a month; the page states a minimum of 15 and maximum of 18 over the membership | 17 Oct 2026 |
| Select Personal Introductions | Not published | Its FAQ says fees at quality UK agencies "typically range from £2,000 to £6,000", but that is a general claim, not Select's own price | 17 Oct 2026 |
| Matchmakers Dating | Not published; its site says costs are discussed at a free consultation | Five membership options, not named on its site; £50 for each profile update you ask for | 17 Oct 2026 |
| INTRO NW | Not published on the pages we checked | Three named levels: Elite, Prime and Personal | 17 Oct 2026 |
Club Connexions' £1,000 carries an asterisk on its page with no explanation that we could find, so ask what it refers to before you pay.
Two agencies don't publish their fees but do publish what they would keep if you cancelled in the cooling-off period, which tells you something about the scale of the fee:
- Select Personal Introductions lists deductions of £300 for set-up and onboarding, £195 for profile processing, £300 for data entry and searches, £500 for bio, coaching and photography, and £250 to £500 for other services. It also charges a non-refundable consultation booking fee, credited against membership if you join within seven days.
- Matchmakers Dating gives examples of £500 for a home or office profiling consultation and £500 for client registration.
How each one vets the people you'll meet
Every agency here says it meets or screens its members. What differs is how much detail they publish, and whether they promise anything about checking ID.
- Select Personal Introductions. Its terms say clients are interviewed and their identity is verified and checked, and that clients must be unattached and no longer living with a former partner. Private members' matches go through "an in-depth screening process, including face-to-face meetings".
- Matchmakers Dating. Its North West page says every potential member is personally interviewed and "checked out for residency and solvency". Its terms say all members are interviewed and ID verified, then add: "we accept the particulars given to us in good faith", and advise members to verify information themselves.
- Club Connexions. Members have a video evaluation call. The group's terms, published on the Club Introductions site, say service starts only after you submit a passport or driving licence.
- INTRO NW. Matchmakers meet each client face to face; the page we read didn't describe ID or other checks.
That line from Matchmakers Dating is worth remembering whichever agency you choose. An interview and an ID check confirm that someone is who they say they are. They don't confirm that everything else they told the agency is true. Our guide to how agencies vet members explains what to ask.
What the fee actually buys you
The published terms show how differently "membership" is defined:
- A number of matches. Club Connexions promises two or three matches a month but says it "cannot guarantee introductions". Its group terms say a hybrid membership is "deemed fulfilled once contracted introductions are proposed whether or not meetings take place".
- A period of time. Select's terms set no fixed term on its website; after the cooling-off period you can end membership with at least 30 days' written notice. Matchmakers Dating's contract runs for the term in your membership agreement, and its terms say "the service and the fee paid are not divisible pro rata", so stopping early doesn't mean a partial refund.
- Refunds. Select says it keeps the full registration fee and isn't liable to refund fees once the service has begun. Club Introductions' terms say no refunds are issued except where it breaches its own terms. Matchmakers Dating gives no refund after the cancellation period unless it has breached its terms or your consumer rights.
- Freezing. Club Connexions lets you freeze for up to two months at a time, up to three times, but instalments continue during a freeze. Matchmakers Dating offers a freeze only where your agreement includes one.
Your consumer rights sit underneath all of this. If you sign a contract online, by phone or away from the agency's office, you have 14 days after the day you sign to cancel. If you asked the agency to start work in those 14 days, it can charge for what it has done, which is where the deductions above come in. Sign at the agency's own premises and that cancellation right generally doesn't apply. Our guide to dating agency contracts and refunds sets out the rest.
What to ask at your first consultation
Take these to any Manchester agency, and ask for the answers in writing:
- What is the full fee, including VAT, and when is each part due?
- How many introductions will I get, and does a match I decline count as one?
- How many current members fit what I'm looking for, by age and area?
- Do you check ID? Anything else, such as relationship status?
- Is the contract term fixed, and can I freeze it if I meet someone?
- If I cancel within 14 days, what exactly would you deduct?
- What happens if you run out of suitable people before my membership ends?
Question 3 matters here. A firm with offices across the North West may be drawing on members from Liverpool to Leeds, so ask how far you'd be expected to travel. Our full list of questions, and what happens at the first interview, will help you prepare.
When an agency isn't the answer
An agency makes most sense if you're short of time, want people screened before you meet them, and can afford to lose the fee if it doesn't work out. It makes less sense on a tight budget, or if you'd rather see who's out there yourself.
Be cautious with anyone who presses you to sign at the first meeting or won't show you the contract to take home. The warning signs guide lists the others. If you're over 50, our guide to dating agencies for over-50s covers questions specific to later-life dating.
If something goes wrong
Start with the agency, in writing, then escalate. Who to contact depends on whether it's a contract problem or something worse.
| Problem | Where to go |
|---|---|
| The agency won't cancel or refund | Write to it citing your contract and your rights; then Citizens Advice for free advice |
| You paid by credit card and the service wasn't provided | Your card provider: a section 75 claim may apply on prices over £100 |
| An introduction asks you for money | Don't pay; tell the agency, then Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 (Greater Manchester is in England) |
| You feel unsafe | Leave, and call the police: 999 in an emergency, 101 otherwise |
Our own online service, listed separately
DatingAgency.com is not one of the agencies above. We run an online dating service where you do the searching yourself: nobody interviews members or picks matches. Joining, making a profile and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership that renews until you cancel. Profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network, and what members write about themselves isn't checked. How our service works and our prices give the details, and the same safety advice applies.

Questions people ask
How much is a dating agency in Manchester?
Only one of the four agencies we checked publishes a price: £1,000 for a six-month hybrid membership, checked on 17 October 2026. The other three quote fees at a consultation, so ask each for the full price, including VAT, and the contract in writing before you pay.
Can I get my money back if I meet nobody?
Only if the contract says so or the agency fails to deliver what it promised. If you sign online, by phone or away from the agency's office, UK law gives you 14 days to cancel, but agencies can deduct for work already done if you asked them to start. Two of the agencies here publish those deductions.
Is DatingAgency.com one of the agencies listed?
No. We are not an agency and nobody here picks matches. Our online dating service appears in its own section, labelled as ours, so you can compare like with like.
Which Manchester dating agency is best?
We don't rank agencies: nobody can test them fairly without being a client of each. Compare them on members in your age range and area, how they check people, what counts as an introduction, the full fee and the refund terms, and get each answer in writing.
Is there a Manchester dating agency for over-50s?
Agencies set their own age ranges. On 17 October 2026, Club Connexions said it helps singles from their late 20s to their 80s, while Matchmakers Dating said it specialises in people aged 30 to 49. Ask any agency how many current members are in your age band and area.
Do Manchester agencies check ID?
Three of the four say so in their published terms: Select Personal Introductions verifies identity, Matchmakers Dating says members are interviewed and ID verified, and the Club Introductions group asks for a passport or driving licence. INTRO NW describes face-to-face meetings but doesn't detail checks on the pages we read.
