Melbourne dating agencies and matchmakers: who's who and what it costs

Five agencies and matchmakers with a Melbourne address, side by side, using only what each one says on its own website, checked on 20 October 2026.

In short

We checked five agencies and matchmakers with Melbourne addresses on their own websites on 20 October 2026. Only one publishes a price: A$350 per successful introduction. Victoria gives you three business days to withdraw from an introduction agreement and limits upfront payment to 30% on larger contracts. DatingAgency.com is not an agency.

We list five agencies and matchmakers that give a Melbourne address on their own websites, and set out what each publishes and where it stays silent. Everything here comes from each firm's own website as it read on 20 October 2026, and its own documents take precedence over our summary. No listing is paid for and none carries an affiliate link.

One thing to notice before you start: two of the five give the same address, Level 27, 101 Collins Street. That doesn't tell you anything bad about either firm, but it is worth asking any agency where your consultation will actually take place and who you will meet.

Who's working in Melbourne right now

Elite Introductions

An executive matchmaking firm with an office at Level 2, 530 Lonsdale Street, and others in Sydney and Brisbane. Its Melbourne page describes "exclusive matchmaking for busy professionals seeking meaningful, long-term relationships", matched on education, success and values. You start with a free consultation or an online eligibility test. Its terms name the company as Elite Introductions Pty Ltd.

A matchmaker with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, which says it uses "zero algorithms" and "zero apps". It offers matchmaking for men, women and LGBTI+ clients. Its paid memberships are called VIP and Private; there is also a free Open Membership for women aged 25 to 70, whose profiles are considered for introductions to paying members. It says its clients are women aged 25 to 70 and men aged 35 to 75.

O N A Matchmaking

A consultant-led service with private offices in Collins Street for first consultations, and a Sydney office in Barangaroo. Its Melbourne page says members are "typically educated and financially stable" and looking for a long-term relationship. The process starts with a free 20-minute phone call, then a longer meeting in person, then a tailored search programme that runs for 12 months with a period when you can put it on hold.

Blue Label Life

A matchmaker for busy professionals with offices listed in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Its Melbourne page offers a free 30-minute consultation and says every match is "personally selected, pre-screened". Its terms are the most specific of the five about what membership includes (see below).

Find Fit Love

The only firm here whose sole listed office is in Melbourne: Office 3763, 470 St Kilda Road. It introduces singles "across greater Melbourne, from the inner city out to the bay", aimed at people who value health and an active life, though it says you don't need to be "a hardcore gym person". Applying is free and you pay only when an introduction goes ahead.

Prices side by side, with the date we checked

Agency Published price What the price covers Checked
Find Fit Love A$350 per successful introduction; free to apply Charged when both people agree to meet and a time and place are set 20 Oct 2026
Elite Introductions Not published Free consultation first 20 Oct 2026
HYTCH Private Search Not published for VIP or Private; Open Membership for women is free Its FAQ says both paid memberships include a promise of introductions 20 Oct 2026
O N A Matchmaking Not published A 12-month search programme 20 Oct 2026
Blue Label Life Not published Up to 12 months, about one introduction a month 20 Oct 2026

Victoria's rules give you a useful lever here. On any agreement over $1,000, the agency can take no more than 30% before it provides the service, so you shouldn't be asked to pay a large membership in full on day one. If you are, ask why. Our guide to whether a matchmaker is worth it shows how to compare a programme fee with a per-introduction price.

How each one vets the people you'll meet

All five say they meet or screen people. Only one explains how it checks identity.

  • Find Fit Love says it sends a secure link for an ID and selfie check, run by an accredited third-party provider, before any introduction, and won't go ahead if the check can't be completed. It says it doesn't store images of your ID.
  • HYTCH says it meets every prospective match in person before presenting them to you.
  • Blue Label Life says on its Melbourne page that every match is pre-screened, without describing the checks; its terms say people found outside its database are screened "as per our policy" and that your photos must be approved by your matchmaker.
  • Elite Introductions says applicants go through a "multi-step screening process" before being offered membership.
  • O N A Matchmaking uses in-depth interviews at the consultation but doesn't describe any checks.

An interview tells an agency how someone presents. It doesn't confirm that they are single, or that what they said about their job or age is true. Our guide to how agencies vet members explains what to ask for.

What the fee actually buys you

  • A set number of introductions. Blue Label Life's terms say membership lasts up to 12 months, can be put on hold for six months, and entitles you to one profile or introduction a month, with occasional variances. You are expected to ask your matchmaker for each one, and both people should make contact within three days. Coaching costs extra, at a reduced rate for members.
  • A period of searching. O N A Matchmaking runs a 12-month programme with a hold option.
  • Pay as you go. Find Fit Love charges only when a date is set. If the other person cancels first, the fee is credited to your next introduction; if they don't turn up, it offers a full credit or a replacement.
  • A promise of introductions. HYTCH says its VIP and Private memberships include one, but publishes no number or term. Ask how many, over what period, and what happens if it falls short.

On refunds, Blue Label Life says its policy "complies with Australian Consumer Law" and that it can end a membership immediately if you give untruthful information. The other firms' pages that we read don't set out refund terms. In Victoria, your written agreement must include them.

The rules that protect you in Victoria

Victoria is one of two states with rules written for introduction agents. According to Consumer Affairs Victoria, an introduction agreement must:

  • be in writing, in English, signed by both of you, and start with "Important Notice" in bold;
  • set out your cancellation right, the price and how you pay, how long the agreement runs and when you can get a refund.

You can withdraw within three business days by written notice. The agent must then refund you within seven days, less $250 or 10% of the price, whichever is less. And it can take no more than 30% before it provides the service, unless the price is $1,000 or less and you have paid that agent no more than $1,000 in the previous 30 days and $5,000 in the previous 12 months.

These rules sit on top of the national Australian Consumer Law, which requires services to be provided with due care and skill. If you aren't given an agreement that looks like the one above, ask why before you pay anything. Our guide to dating agencies in Australia compares Victoria with the other states, and contracts and refunds covers the small print.

What to ask at your first consultation

  1. What is the full fee, including GST, and how much is due before you start?
  2. Will I get a written introduction agreement with the Important Notice?
  3. How many introductions will I get, and does one I decline count?
  4. How many current members fit what I'm looking for, by age and area?
  5. Do you check ID? Anything else, such as relationship status?
  6. Can I pause my membership if I meet someone?
  7. Where will I meet you, and is this office staffed?

Melbourne sprawls, so question 4 matters: ask how far you'd be expected to travel. Our full list of questions and what happens at the first interview will help you prepare, and the warning signs guide covers pressure to sign on the day.

If something goes wrong

Problem Where to go
You want to cancel within three business days Write to the agency, keep a copy, and note the date
The agency won't cancel or refund Write to it citing your agreement; then Consumer Affairs Victoria on 1300 55 81 81
An introduction asks you for money Don't pay; tell the agency, report it to Scamwatch, and to ReportCyber if you've lost money or personal information
You feel unsafe Leave, and call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency or the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 otherwise

If you've already paid a scammer, call your bank straight away. Our safety guide has more.

Our own online service, listed separately

DatingAgency.com is not one of the agencies above. We run an online dating service where you do the searching yourself: nobody interviews members or picks matches. Joining, making a profile and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership that renews until you cancel. Profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network, and what members write about themselves isn't checked. How our service works and our prices give the details.

Questions people ask

How much does a dating agency cost in Melbourne?

Only one of the five firms we checked on 20 October 2026 publishes a price: Find Fit Love charges A$350 per successful introduction, and applying is free. The other four quote fees after a consultation, so ask for the full price and payment schedule in writing.

Is there a cooling-off period for dating agencies in Victoria?

Yes. Consumer Affairs Victoria says you have three business days to withdraw from an introduction agreement by written notice. The agent must refund you within seven days, keeping no more than $250 or 10% of the price, whichever is less.

Can a Melbourne agency ask for the whole fee upfront?

Not on larger contracts. In Victoria an introduction agent can take no more than 30% of the price before providing the service, unless the price is $1,000 or less and you have paid that agent no more than $1,000 in the previous 30 days and $5,000 in the previous 12 months. Ask for the payment schedule before you sign.

Which Melbourne matchmaker is best?

We don't rank them: nobody can test agencies fairly without being a client of each. Compare them on members in your age range and area, how they check people, what counts as an introduction, the full fee and the refund terms.

Is DatingAgency.com one of the agencies listed?

No. We are not an agency and nobody here picks matches. Our online dating service appears in its own section, labelled as ours, so you can compare like with like.
