In short
We checked four introduction services that say they cover Sheffield, South Yorkshire or the North, on their own websites on 20 October 2026. None says it is based in South Yorkshire. Only one publishes a price: £1,000 for six months of hybrid matching. Ask how far apart members live before you pay. DatingAgency.com is not an agency.
| Firms listed | 4, each checked on its own website |
|---|---|
| Based in South Yorkshire | None that we found |
| Publishing a price | 1 of 4: £1,000 for six months |
| Checked on | 20 October 2026 |
| UK cancellation right | 14 days if you sign online, by phone or away from the firm's office |
Sheffield has plenty of agency web pages and, as far as we could find, no agency of its own. Every firm below covers South Yorkshire as part of a wider patch: Yorkshire, the North or the whole country. That matters, because a firm drawing members from Newcastle to Manchester may not have many within an easy drive of Ecclesall or Hillsborough.
Below are four services that say on their own websites that they cover Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Yorkshire or the North, what each publishes, and where each stays silent. Everything comes from each firm's own website as it read on 20 October 2026, and its own documents take precedence over our summary. No listing is paid for and none carries an affiliate link.
Who's working in Sheffield right now
Matchmakers Dating and its sister brands (national, based in Warwickshire)
Matchmakers Dating's Yorkshire and Humber page lists South Yorkshire among its areas and says it has served Yorkshire since 2005. It focuses on professionals aged 30 to 49. Its terms give its address as 8 Arrow Court, Alcester, Warwickshire, and its membership page says it is part of the Dating Options group.
This is the business you're most likely to meet under several names. On 20 October 2026, Searchmate, Attractive Partners and RSVP all had Sheffield pages, and all gave the same Alcester address. Searchmate says it has provided introductions in the Sheffield area since 1998; RSVP says it has served South Yorkshire since 1992, runs singles events and sells lifetime memberships with a joining fee paid once and a service fee while you're active. Attractive Partners' and RSVP's terms read almost word for word like Matchmakers Dating's. Treat these as one choice, not four, and don't pay for more than one.
Ignite Dating (national, registered in Rutland)
Ignite Dating Group Ltd gives its registered office as Oakham, Rutland, and works with clients across the UK. Its South Yorkshire page names Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, and says your matchmaker can look across the wider region and beyond. Clients get a dedicated matchmaker, personality profiling using the MBTI and FIRO frameworks, professional dating photography and headhunting beyond its own database.
Club Connexions (the North)
The northern arm of Club Introductions, whose main service covers London and the Home Counties. Club Connexions says it helps singles "of all ages in the North of the UK", from their late 20s to their 80s; it doesn't name Sheffield or Yorkshire. It is a hybrid service: the team writes your profile and sends you matches, and you choose whom to meet. It publishes no office address.
Select Personal Introductions (Manchester)
A Manchester agency whose home page names Leeds and Yorkshire among its specialist areas and says it can match clients "across the UK and Internationally". Its terms give 111 Piccadilly, Manchester, for written notices. It doesn't mention Sheffield or a Yorkshire office, so ask where its Yorkshire members live.
The trade body, the Association of British Introduction Agencies (ABIA), keeps a list of members covering Yorkshire. On 20 October 2026 it showed 10, mostly national or specialist services, and Select was the only one in this guide. Another member, YL Introductions, gives an address in York; its own website refused our check that day, so it isn't listed here. ABIA membership means an agency has agreed to follow its code of practice. It isn't a licence. The Manchester guide compares Select and Club Connexions in more depth.
Prices side by side, with the date we checked
| Firm | Published price | What the price covers | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Club Connexions | £1,000 for six months; a "guest" membership at £150 for four months | Two or three matches a month, with a stated minimum of 15 and maximum of 18 over the membership | 20 Oct 2026 |
| Ignite Dating | Not published | It says fees depend on the service level and the scope of the search, and are discussed at a consultation | 20 Oct 2026 |
| Matchmakers Dating | Not published | Costs are discussed at a free consultation; £50 for each profile update you ask for unless your agreement includes updates | 20 Oct 2026 |
| Select Personal Introductions | Not published on the pages we checked | Its terms list cooling-off deductions (below) but no membership fee | 20 Oct 2026 |
Club Connexions' £1,000 carries an asterisk with no explanation that we could find, so ask what it refers to.
Two firms that don't publish fees do publish what they'd keep if you cancelled in the 14-day cooling-off period after asking them to start:
- Matchmakers Dating: £500 for a home or office profiling consultation (or £250 by video or phone), £500 for registration including background checks, £250 for drafting your profile, £250 if headhunting has started, and from £75 for coaching.
- Select Personal Introductions: £200 for the consultation, £195 for profile processing, £100 for data entry, initial searches and administration, and £75 to £250 for other services.
How each one vets the people you'll meet
- Matchmakers Dating. Its Yorkshire page says it personally interviews every client and insists on photographic ID and evidence of residency. Its terms add that it accepts members' details "in good faith" and advise you to verify them yourself.
- Ignite Dating. Lists "ID-checked introductions" among what every client receives, and says each match is vetted and approved by both people before contact.
- Select Personal Introductions. Its terms say clients are interviewed and their identification is "verified and checked".
- Club Connexions. Its page says it video-screens all clients. The Club Introductions terms say service starts only after you submit a passport or driving licence.
An interview and an ID check confirm someone is who they say they are. They don't confirm that everything else they told the agency is true. Our guide to how agencies vet members explains what to ask.
What the fee actually buys you
- A number of matches. Club Connexions promises two or three matches a month, and its group's terms say a hybrid membership is "deemed fulfilled once contracted introductions are proposed whether or not meetings take place". Matchmakers Dating's terms say a promised number of introductions is met when you reach it or when it has sent you at least twice as many profiles.
- A period of time. Select's terms let you end membership with at least 30 days' written notice. RSVP's memberships don't expire, though there is a reactivation fee if your profile has been dormant for over a year.
- Refunds. Select says it isn't liable to refund fees once the service has begun. Club Introductions says no refunds are issued except where it breaches its terms. Matchmakers Dating gives no refund after the cancellation period unless it has breached its terms or your rights. Ignite Dating doesn't publish terms on the pages we read, so ask.
- Freezing. Club Connexions lets you freeze for up to two months, up to three times, but instalments continue during a freeze. Matchmakers Dating offers a freeze only where your agreement includes one.
Your consumer rights sit underneath all of this. If you sign a contract online, by phone or away from the firm's office, you have 14 days after the day you sign to cancel. If you asked the firm to start work in those 14 days, it can charge for what it has done, which is where the deductions above come in. Sign at the firm's own premises and that cancellation right generally doesn't apply. Our guide to dating agency contracts and refunds sets out the rest.
What to ask at your first consultation
Take these to any service covering Sheffield, and ask for the answers in writing:
- What is the full fee, including VAT, and when is each part due?
- How many introductions will I get, and does a match I decline count as one?
- How many current members fit what I'm looking for, and how many live in South Yorkshire?
- Do you check ID? Anything else, such as relationship status?
- Do you trade under any other names?
- If I cancel within 14 days, what exactly would you deduct?
- What happens if you run out of suitable people before my membership ends?
Our full list of questions, and what happens at the first interview, will help you prepare.
When an agency isn't the answer
An agency makes most sense if you're short of time, want people screened before you meet them, and can afford to lose the fee if it doesn't work out. It makes less sense on a tight budget, or if you'd rather see who's out there yourself. Be cautious with anyone who presses you to sign at the first meeting or won't let you take the contract home; the warning signs guide lists the others.
If something goes wrong
Start with the firm, in writing, then escalate.
| Problem | Where to go |
|---|---|
| The firm won't cancel or refund | Write to it citing your contract and your rights; then Citizens Advice for free advice |
| You paid by credit card and the service wasn't provided | Your card provider: a section 75 claim may apply on prices over £100 |
| An introduction asks you for money | Don't pay; tell the firm, then Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040 |
| You feel unsafe | Leave, and call the police: 999 in an emergency, 101 otherwise |
Our own online service, listed separately
DatingAgency.com is not one of the services above. We run an online dating service where you do the searching yourself: nobody interviews members or picks matches. Joining, making a profile and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership that renews until you cancel. Profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network, and what members write about themselves isn't checked. How our service works and our prices give the details, and the same safety advice applies.

Questions people ask
How much is a dating agency in Sheffield?
Only one of the four services we checked publishes a price: Club Connexions charges £1,000 for six months of hybrid matching, checked on 20 October 2026. Ignite Dating, Matchmakers Dating and Select Personal Introductions quote fees at a consultation, so ask each for the full price and the contract in writing.
Is there a dating agency based in Sheffield?
We didn't find one. Several firms have Sheffield or South Yorkshire pages, but on their own websites they give addresses in Warwickshire, Rutland or Manchester, or no address at all. Ask any of them how many current members live in South Yorkshire.
Do Sheffield agencies check ID?
Three say so. Matchmakers Dating insists on photographic ID and proof of residency, Select's terms say identity is verified, and Ignite Dating describes ID-checked introductions. Club Connexions' own page describes video screening, and its group's terms ask for a passport or driving licence before service starts.
Which Sheffield dating agency is best?
We don't rank agencies: nobody can test them fairly without being a client of each. Compare them on members in your age range and area, how they check people, what counts as an introduction, the full fee and the refund terms, and get each answer in writing.
Is DatingAgency.com one of these agencies?
No. We are not an agency and nobody here picks matches. Our online dating service is listed separately below, labelled as ours.
